Samantha read mathematics at Leeds University before becoming a Chartered Accountant. She trained in general practice giving her experience across a wide range of business and industry types, from both an audit and advisory perspective.

She decided to specialise in tax and subsequently qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. She is a fully qualified Chartered Tax Adviser and has served on the Institute's regional committee.

Samantha has also served as a member of the ICAEW SME Business Committee, and was instrumental in the inauguration of the ICAEW Annual Tax Essay Competition for early career tax specialists.

Samantha is involved in finance and accounting education and research. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, holds a post graduate diploma in education and is a regular presenter at various conferences, short courses and workshops.
